Low and Moderate income housing
Up to Neighborhood Discussion
Get ready for the influx of new neighbors. The city of New York is in negotiations with the Port Authority to build LOW AND MODERATE INCOME HOUSING ON THE WATERFRONT IN QUEENS WEST south of Avalon. This is in the article about the sale of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. The city has to provide affordable housing somewhere and Queens West won.

CSK - It must be the PowerPlant.
All joking aside how can you have low income housing next to Luxury Housing? The developers other than those selling the low income units must be going crazy with this as it is going to have a significant impact on their ability to charge premium prices. Not if the warterfront is becoming the low income section of LIC.

Believe it or not that will have no bearing on what goes on by the waterfront --ala Schaefer Landing has a 80-20 deal with the city as well. Also take a ride through Dumbo and drive right through Gold Street - those huge brick buildings out there are called projects.

why would they be allowed to build low income housing on the water - where it s/b a premium to live there? i hate stuff like this. these programs eventually all get abused and then 10-20yrs from now, these "low-income" housing occupants, win the lottery when they are allowed to sell at the market - ridiculous. this plans sound doubtful
I remember this conversation a while back.
Whats wrong with Low to Moderate housing? and even worse whats wrong wtih "low-income housing occupants" Take a step back, and realize who falls into this category; what Low-Moderate Income really means? What is moderate in NY?
Senior Citizens - Sorry gramps NY is to expensive, now go find a crap hole you can afford.
Teacher - Thanks for getting paid peanuts to educate my child, but I dont want you living next door to me.
Fresh College Grad - You work at Morgan Stanley and make 60K oh god, I dont want you in my neighborhood!
