I am also disappointed with the new policy.  I don't think they are having trouble renting.  Based on the Avalong website, the building raised the rental prices recently.  My unit is up $300.   I guess we might be in trouble when the lease expires.

They *are* having trouble renting and that's why they're reversing their no-pet policy.  That's the only reason.

Too many apartments hitting the market at the same time.

I don't know the particulars, but yes the only reason I would think they would reverse the policy was because of low rentals.

I've heard that half the people that come in to tour have pets.  So, it must be in response to future rentals and not current rentals.  We all signed on with a "no pet" rule in place.  If we wanted pets and we wanted Avalon, we could have gone to Avalon South.

It's unfortunate that they're bending to possible residents rather than listening to current residents.
