Dear Friends,

We are all in the same situation...our rent did or is going to increase... of 20 %.

We are wondering if the new tenants are aware of the policy of the Avalon...do not trust the smiling leasing officers they are buying you with a swimming pool (open three months per year)...the rest they forget to mention it...you will get the promise of a 4 % increase and you will get a 20 % increase of your rent...

Just have a look around and you will find a much better service / management / amenities included in the other buildings ... East Coast, Citylights and EVEN Manhattan (did you see the article about the price drop in Manhattan??).

If you decide to come, good luck and put money on the side for your next moving...

For the one who got screwed, we need to organize ourself and give them the publicity they deserve... what about the media, we can contact some of them....I m sure they would love to write about it (AM NY for example).

And for the leasing officers and the management, hope you enjoy reading QueensWest and try to change your "business way"!!!!

Although I partially agree with your statement and you make some good points... I don't agree with creating a new account name to express views which could have been done under the original account.

I may be wrong, but the wording, the CAPS, and the situation, all seem to familiar... And I've got a sneaky suspicion that the IP address is the exact same one as well.

My god, u know to be fully honest - i came home 1 night and for the first time in many years living here decided to vent on this community portal. some ppl have responded with some crazy and off the wall comments. I have replied to most just out of sheer fun at the moment. I was amazed to see how heated and personal these comments were. i could care less to be honest. But now, i ve logeed in thru my 1 account which i currently have here and i saw this thread - only to see u ppl talking about this thread as if this was mine? have u absolutely lost ur minds? This isn't me, lol. some other poor guy is looking at this and thinking what the hell you r talking about. Look for urself at my own original thread where the last comment i made is to tell the last person to shut the f---k up! i did not create a special account to do that, did i? i am just so surprised to see people discussing this. i especially love the comment where someone here says they think they recognize the IP address? really?? how do u do that, bcs i wanna learn that trick. hahahaha. unless you are a computer tech. or have a back door to this site like the creators (Jake i.e) - there is no way to find that out! if this is my IP address, then i must be carefull bcs either someone is living in my apartment and types threads on queenswest and i havent noticed them here, or even worse - someone  IS USING MY WIRELESS INTERNET!!! OH NO! hahaha. this is truly hilarious, i swear. i almost passed this gem by and didn't see it on the list of posts.

BTW (all caps, lol)  I LIVE IN THE AVALON SOUTH, NOT NORTH!!. WHY WOULD I CARE ABOUT THEIR RENT INCREASE ENOUGH TO WRITE ABOUT IT. ALSO, I HAVE RENEWED MY LEASE IN MARCH FOR 15 MONTHS AT 7% INCREASE I THINK. A TINY BIT ON THE HIGH SIDE, BUT NORMAL NEVERTHELSS. ENJOY PLAYING SHERLOCK HOLMES

look here,  There is a post on the front page, like 3 or 4 down the list, where a girl is also talking about steep increase in AR.  some other ppl have responded to her thread, look below! apparently others talk about the 20% rent increase on this discussion forum. many other ppl in fact. do u see it below? wow, i guess these were also 2 other accounts which i created (nvrmnd that these posts r from june and i've become a member in august) just to post 2 replies and agree with someone. amazing. good job Syda. u have solved the mystery, hahahahahaha. and Sebastion, u deserve a gold star as well buddy, nice partner work for Syda here. u had her back.

12% would be nice, we just received the letter and it's 20%. Can
you believe it? 20%!!! This must be illegal, is it not? I know people
who got 12%, tried to negotiate and got nowhere! So yes, faceless
corporation trying to take advantage of people.

I also got my Renewal and its 20% superb ridiculous....It is not
acceptable, but practically can do nothing. We live in a 2BR, and
looking intensively....but 20% shocked us big time......
