To Don Smith,

Honestly, are you a member of the Avalon staff? "Any decisions don't happen overnight." I don't think anyone expects staff to go to Target. But give me a break. Look at the Avalon North roof garden and compare it to East Coast. Is there any comparison? A professionally designed outdoor area versus some astroturf and a few picnic tables. From the renderings on the Avalon web site, we certainly did not get what is visually portrayed. People have to resort to sitting on towels on concrete on the roofdeck garden bc there are no lounge chairs! Just a few steel picnic tables and chairs. And yes, our pool has a couple lounge chairs for 40 floors of apartments. It's ridiculous. Perhaps you don't pay much rent/fees (or work for Avalon). I had expected what was promised, and Avalon simply has not delivered.

Yeah well unfortunately I don't work for the staff, so I can't give you the terrace you desire. I guess you haven't done your homework, because I looked at East Coast prior to leasing here and the roofdeck is not what it appears. First off, the cute little cabanas they have cost $60 to rent. Secondly, guests cost $25. So if you want to go out on the terrace to smoke a cigarette with a friend, it's $25. Same with the gym. Guests are free here. Their amm. fee is $600 per person, not $500 an apt like ARN. Something to think about

I heard back from Lea, and this was her response:

I understand your concern. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience
however, those are the hours set forth by the company. I will look into
whether they can or will be changed in the future however, at this time
will remain. Again, I apologize. Thank you and enjoy your day.

This was a very polite response, but it resolves nothing. I received this response May 31st, and have not heard anything else since. Since it's the company that sets the hours, and not the ARN management, I think the best thing is to start a petition. The company is more likely to listen if we can show that there are a number of people who feel this way. I live in 615 at ARN. I am going to draft a petition and place it outside my door for people to sign. I will include some of the other concerns listed here, like the lack of lawn chairs by the pool and outdoor deck. Maybe this way they will actually consider our concerns. It's not like the amenities fee was optional. I should be able to use the things they required me to pay for, and with the current hours, that is not possible.

>
I am outraged by the hours. I understand that it is a family friendly building, but come on 9am. For people who work that is ridiculous. I was looking forward to doing laps in the morning, but with the current hours that is not possible, and I'm sure that on the weekends it will be to crowded. I have written a letter to Lea, and depending on her response I am going to start a petition. Would anyone else be interested in earlier hours for the pool.

I was also looking forward to doing laps in the morning - there is no way I can seeing as though I have to be at work at 9am - have you gotten any response?

Don -

I don't know where to start on how wrong you are, but I guess stating that the fee is $20 would be one. You're limited to 15 guests, for free... two. I dont know, there's plenty more but I'm tired. Oh, and the deck has real grass, and it's spectacular.

If you want to see what is actually wrong with the area, please see my mini-rant in the east coast forum.
