8 Deck chairs for 602 apartments in ARN...are these people serious??

Re: 8 Deck chairs for 602 apartments in ARN...are these people serious??
I am a tenant at Avalon Riverview (not north) for over three years and have lived in other high rise buildings with facilities for many years, and here are my observations...
1. We have two bbq grills in our building, of about 350 apts, and they are adequate. Three would be nice, but people graciously share the grill, if both of them are being used when you show up.
2. There was a talk about how small the gym was for Gantry, and reality is with 50 apts. there you will see maybe one or two people at the gym at the same time.
3. Same goes for our building we have two cross-trainers, one set of resistance machine in our gym at Avalon, but it is really not an issue. Would four cross trainers be nice, yes, but not rally necessary.
4. If you go over to the pool at EC2, you will also see that at a time you will see maybe 1 family or two at the pool.
So wait and see if it does get busy, before you get to outraged. This is not a pool or beach at Atlantis/resort that everyone is there to hang out by the pool, and you can not have enough lounge chairs. This is a building where people have jobs and weekend plans and most of these facilities are underutilized. If it is really a problem in two months you can complain and get you blood pressure up.

I am outraged by the hours. I understand that it is a family friendly building, but come on 9am. For people who work that is ridiculous. I was looking forward to doing laps in the morning, but with the current hours that is not possible, and I'm sure that on the weekends it will be to crowded. I have written a letter to Lea, and depending on her response I am going to start a petition. Would anyone else be interested in earlier hours for the pool.
Re: 8 Deck chairs for 602 apartments in ARN...are these people serious??
1. More deck chairs by the pool. (as previously posted the current amount of chairs is not sufficient to cover the north buildings number of apartments let alone both buildings combined).
2. Lounge chairs on the larger deck. (it is really not up to a "luxury" buildings standards to have residents laying on bed sheets and towels in the grass due to the lack of outdoor seating areas). Even in mid priced buildings they have many lounge chairs for residents to use.
3. Additional non lounge chair type seating. (hopefully something more comfortable than the current rod iron picnic benches and chairs).
It would be one thing if these amenities came "free" or as I like to put it: included in the rent. But at $500 per apartment, that is a huge amount of combined money that we have all paid for what we are getting.
Unless many residents voice opinions about these issues nothing will happen!
I plan to call the general manager on Monday to voice my concerns about having to live here another year, (since my email to Lea, the customer service manager last week got no response) at that point I will probably move to another building that allows me to enjoy the amenities I pay for if this one refuses to use the money collected to improve the current conditions.

Hi Lisa
I agree with you, having the pool open earlier would be great!
I would sign a petition any time!

Am I the only one that is flabbergasted that there are only 8 deck chairs on the new pool deck of Riverview North. This building has 602 apartments, a $500 amenities fee...and apparently only 8 pool deck chairs. If this upsets you, as it does me, please contact the building manager (I think her name is Lara) and say something.

I have spoken to the leasing office and more pool chairs are coming. One thing that was explained to me (probably because I was nice about it and didn't speak to them as if any inadeqacies were personally their fault or a result of mgmt having a personal vendetta to make us as residents unhappy) was that Avalon is a huge company. Any decisions made don't happen overnight. And I don't know about you guys, but I don't very well expect one of the members of the management staff to personally go to Target and buy things for the building. To be honest, I think the ammenities are absolutely great. I also think that if you give people enough time then they will find things to comlplain about. Really people, what did you expect? An olympic sized pool?
