I grew up in Astoria/LIC, moved out west for a few years and recently returned to LIC.  Just two weeks ago I decided to start a the Long Island City meetup group on meetup.com.  I'd like to make new friends in the area, and get to know my neighbors.  The group is for those in their 20s-30s-to early 40s, so far we have about 60 members.  You can visit us at: http://friends.meetup.com/824/, its free to join, and most of the events are free.  I organize events in the local LIC/Astoria area, Manhattan, and Brooklyn too.  I"m open to having others join me as assistant organizers.  Its simple organize what you like to do, and invite friends along!
