"It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too
low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the
rates now... Cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve
the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus."

Things have changed enormously since the early sixties.  It's a whole different ballgame out there.  Back then we had the world's greatest manufacturing base, the most solid economy, we controlled or inluenced most of the world's oil supply, the dollar was strong, we had a commanding edge on things hi-tech, there were no wars (for all practical purposes) to speak of, we stood down our enemy, and kicked them out of Cuba, we had the world's most powerful military (one thing we still have; but for how long?), and we didn't have an administration that tried to economically and socially cripple our country.

BHO may be no JFK in some respects; but if elected, he will need to be more than a JFK.  He will need to be a miracle worker, to bring the USA back from the brink of economic, home security, and world affairs disaster.  We'll see hat happens..................................................................................................

   ...............And the band played on.

Ya know, This campaign still sounds like the same old bull, that it's sounded like for decades; just a bit more civil.  Now, I don't know how much of what the're saying, is what they've been told to say by their campaign strategists, but they sound like a couple of juveniles getting on each others' case.  If this is the tone of things to come, then it seems like there'll be nothing really new and that any "change", is probaly just a change in the arrangement of smoke & mirrors.  This is the norm, and probably always will be, as long as it's just Democrats & Republicans.  What a waste!

Private jetliners adorned with campaign slogans.  There's just something that doesn't seem right about that.  How does that equate to an understanding of and a promise of fiscal responsibility?  All of this humungous amount of campaign money could've bailed out tens of thousands of families, in homes headed for foreclosure.  Hell, there's probably hundreds of better uses for money, in those amounts.  What a waste!

And the millions and millions of dollars used to build large ugly buildings for rich yuppie transients on the Long Island City waterfront, Court Square area, and countless other locations in Williamsburg and Greenpoint could have instead been used for a plethora of better causes.

Greed is the American dream - not morals.

Money talks and empty pockets get the shaft time and time again.
