Haha... "Struggling" is an extreme characterization of my student debt situation just as "wow" and "life-changing" are undeserved superlatives for the iPhone. It's not like you're going to ditch your computer and save on internet fees. So if you move away from extreme mindsets, you'll probably find that you're better off spending the incremental $40+ a month that the iPhone costs (purchase price amortized over 2 years plus extra At&T charge) cutting your debt or paying your condo maintenance fees...

Beware of new gadgetry, especially those that are as hyped as this one...[/quote]

You seem to be more than happy to hand out advice, maybe you should understand your audience a little more before doing so.

I actually traded in a phone/ipod to buy the iPhone so it replaces not one, but two devices for me. There is a cost savings in maintaining that hardware as well.

As for the second part, I don't live in a condo and since I have my mortgage and maintenance covered pretty well, the iPhone is only additive.

Beyond that, I actually work in technology and evaluating new technology and reviewing it IS part of my job, yet another reason why the iPhone is a good choice.

Clearly you have your own issues and constraints and that is fine, just try to judge everyone else based on your limited mindset and set of parameters.

Jake, please, for my sanity, tell me one Apple product that you do not like or reccommend. Which Apple product do you warn us to stay away from? That way, nobody can call you brain-washed.

csk,

I completely agree with your line of thought. My argument is that most people would PROBABLY consider the additional $40+ a month too expensive for any additional ego-expressive benefit that the iPhone promises.

I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who'd noticed his devotion to all things Apple! He must either truly worship Steve Jobs, or he's one of those who bought AAPL stock after it popped 30% on the news of the iPhone and is now feverishly praying for a similar run in the coming weeks...

Yes, I like Apple (both the stock and the company).

As for what I wouldn't recommend, that comes down to who you are and what you do.

I wouldn't recommend an iPhone for your grandmother.

I wouldn't recommend a Mac for a PC gamer and tweaker.

I wouldn't recommend .Mac (right now).

I wouldn't recommend Apple TV for those who don't have digital content.

I wouldn't recommend iWork if you use MS Office.

That being said, Apple products by and large are very good, well designed, well thought out and hold their value very well.

How much do you think I can get for an old Power Computing computer?
