Gantry State Park Extension is OPEN!!!
Up to Neighborhood Discussion
I agree, Pete. People who do not "scoop" are rude, inconsiderate beings who do not deserve the privelege of owning a dog. BTW, the pups in dohnation's flickr are in the house - not romping in the park, and Remy is so adorable I want to "dognap" him - don't worry - I won't,because my very jealous Mio (a cat) would never forgive me
There are plenty of people that don't clean up after their dogs where they are allowed, sidewalks, etc. I have a dog and get disgusted by this. Yes, Remy's pictures are a highlight! Well the good news is we have a beautiful park to take advantage of this summer so let's just look at the bright side of things. Lucky us!
Thanks for the praise - Remy is a definitely a charmer. He's "The Mayor" of the neighborhood - has to say hi to everyone.
I agree on the whole poop thing, I usually pick up other dog poop when Remy "does his business". I'm not sure why some people are so inconsiderate (weird). Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in non-designated areas in State or City parks. I did mention to Eric Gioia that most of the best NYC parks have top-flight dog runs (Washington Square Park, Central Park, Madson Square Park, Carl Shurz Park, etc.). He acknowledged the lack of a good dog park and the fact that the big dog park by the tennis bubble is about to disappear, but did not have any immediate solutions. I suggested sprucing up the dog park at the intersection of Vernon and 48th Avenue (expand, regrade, refence, create a double-door entry, some pea gravel and new seating). At least this will take care of the small to medium size dogs until something else is built...
