Fruit man

Maybe they are snowbirds. They work really hard in the summer months and take off the rest of the year in warmer climates. That is good for them but too bad for us because I already miss having them there.
The vast majority of snowbirds usually don't start migrating 'til at least after Thanksgiving, at the earliest. If they're out there in April, which has about the same weather as November, and with no locally grown produce available that early (except for possibly greenhouse stuff), that kinda negates the early snowbird theory. If they got a stack of tickets every month, then maybe they're not licensed, but if that were the case, then why didn't the cops force him to leave or arrest him for so many violations? It has to be another reason.

It was for really dumb reasons, like their license (that hangs around their neck) wasn't visible- cart was 1 foot too close to the corner, ect. I'd ask them about it but they never really wanted to elaborate. I know someone was regularly complaining- but the fruit guys were cool about it and they took it all in stride.
Maybe turkish snow birds have staggered schedule and want out before thanksgiving [shrugs shoulders]
They had told me that they'd be there until first snowfall.
They also sell jewelry- they were at the craft fair at the Farmer's Market.
I hope they come back soon. I was happy to see them there.
The Fruit Man dedinitely had a license to operate in that location. That was checked out with the city on their first day of operation in order to appease certain shop keepers who were ready to "pounce". They co-existed in the neighborhood quite nicely with the complaints that resulted in "nonsense" tickets coming from a building owner - not the shop keepers! They told the HPCDC office that their season was up and that they would be returning in April. It could be that the license is good until the end of September and begins again the follwing Spring. Hope they return - theyare good people, and it was great having them participate in our craft fair with their jewelry line.
