I'm looking for apartments to buy in LIC and am curious whether anyone has had any luck finding anything resembling a one-bedroom that's not a "luxury condo." I have nothing against luxury, but just would rather spend what resources I have on location than a super-deep bathtub. I know there's a zillion of these new condo units going up, but has anyone had success looking for a one-bedroom in an older rowhouse or something similar? I'd love to find something around Vernon/Jackson that fit this description. When I posed this question to the folks at Crest Haven, they basically said, "Good luck." Back in the day, seemed like they were the only realtors in town, but that was a few years ago, when they still had their shop off Vernon Blvd. Does anyone know any other realtors worth checking? I lived in LIC for about five years up until this past January, when I moved away for work reasons, but am planning to return in about six months. Sure would like to return to a humble little apartment for sale like the ones I've rented in the past. Thanks

I think you should give Crest Haven another try.  They have been renting for me for years and I am quite happy with the people they have gotten me.

I can't imagine why they would have said "Good Luck" unless your looking to pay an unreasonably low rent.

I think some of the older buildings on 21 St. around the C-town supermarket are old Co-ops.  Maybe you could see if there is any on the market.  Good luck in your search.
