I'm considering moving into 4705 Center Blvd., but I'm finding it hard to gauge the safety of the neighborhood as one moves east.  It seems that even the short walk from Center Blvd. to the Vernon Blvd. station can take you down some desolate streets -- warehouses, construction -- and I haven't yet ventured as far as the Hunter's Point or 21st Street stations.  Is this area generally safe for the timid and vulnerable to stroll alone at night?

My wife and I have been living in Citylights since 2001 and we find the neighborhood to be very safe.  I have walked from the 7 at all odd hours of the night and no problems to date.  My wife and my little girl use the parks and piers during the day and we find them very safe.  The neighborhood is becoming safer and safer everyday because there are always more people moving in and making the streets less lonely.  However, we are still in the city so we must not let our guard down.  Hope this helps.
