Bread Box Is Amazing
Up to Neighborhood Discussion
Tried the new bagel store Bread Box the other day and the food is awesome. Located on 11th street next to the Gas station, the shop is in some pretty neat industrial looking digs. The bagels were fresh, the staff really nice, and the inside comfortable to sit in and have a nice breakfast. They have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu and from what the co-owner Tal told me, they are going to expand their menu by Spring and feature nices wines and spirits.
What are they serving?
sesame bagel with engine sludge and tire thread?
whole weat bagel with high diesel sauce and windshield wipers bits?
Amazing?...Not my experience...I have tried 3x's to give the owners a chance to redeem themselves but unfortunatley they still came up short...The service there is slow with inexperienced employees. The bagels are nothing special(dry and airy)..I could get a much better bagel and service at Food Cellar or Bricktown..Two out of the three times there I had to repeat my order at least 3x's and we are talking about two sesame bagels one toasted and one not toasted with veg. cream cheese on both...Not that difficult to comprehend..and 2 out of 3x's they just plopped the cream cheese on without spreading..The third time I went I specifically asked them to SPREAD the cream cheese...
I gave this place 3 chances but they just never pulled through and I know I am not the only one who has had bad service and crappy bagels....Its a shame because I really want this place to succeed but changes need to be made...
newgallic,
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience in Breadbox. Fortunately I had the opposite experience yesterday when I went for lunch with a pretty large group. The place was full and the service was pretty timely. The people I went with thought the food was very good and the place looks great. It is nice to see another cool place open up around the neighborhood. Hope that if you go back it works out much better for you.
