I emailed NYSC extolling the up and coming nature of LIC and said they should put a gym in the area, even going so far as saying that there is retail space in Fusion, thinking at worst it was 5 minutes out of my life writing into the ether of the net. Lo and behold, Mitch from real estate called me back within a few minutes and left a message. He said they are currently looking at 1 or 2 locations, and that he would look into Fusion as well. I am going to call him back and find out where the potential sites are. He sounded like a pretty nice guy.

Sweet! I don't know about you guys, but I am much more inclined to hit the gym when I am not motivated if it's at least close by. NYSC, Amish Market, LIC is looking up!

dcdude,

Great job being proactive. Our neighborhood needs a gym and the more involved residents get in contributing to it's growth, the more seriously business owners will view the area

Doesn't every new apartment complex have a gym? I thought that was a pre-requisite.

No, not every new bldg will have a gym - including the Badge. Even if it did, it wouldn't have enough equipment or services. Please dcdude let us know if you hear anything else about a possible NYSC location and/or open date.

one of the best and affordable y's in the city is like a long block from arris, and I suppose therefore close to fusion--buy a bike it'll take you 2 minutes. This is the Y everyone in greenpoint goes to. It has free babysitting all day long. It's cheap too.
Please take a look at the forum rules and FAQ section.
