So the more current rendering shows 2 new buildings to come - one where the old buiding was pulled down and another on the plot that runs between 50th and 51st to the east of buildings 1 and 2.

here is a rendering from the mendes engr website - this has been around for a while now:

the new building permits have been granted for both buildings - each is 12 stories and 120 ft high.  the especially interesting nuggest is that one of the permits indicates a hotel.

here they are:

Do you know if there is going to be onsite parking for the additional bldgs?

supposedly the back building (black and tan striped in the far left corner) will be a valet style garage operating for the two front buildings...

thanks, marc. the surrounding streets are already choked with cars, so it's good to know there is some sort of parking planned. from the renderings it looks as though the back side of the round glass enclosed 'stacks' give the residents a birds eye view of the next bldg, and vice versa. i thought the plan was for them to have spectacular 360 degree views.

Hello all,

I recently bought a unit on the 10th floor after having visited quite a few properties in the area. As far as the discussion about the loss of a view with the proposed construction around Gantry State Park, I think The Powerhouse still offers better views than any other condo building in the area. Few, to my knowledge, can boast a waterfront location. The Crescent Club seems to come close. Moreover, compared to other developments (i.e. Hunter's Point), there are currently no obstructions and only proposals for development. The sales agent also told me that if anything came up, it would not be construction that would block our view. Easements and such were big concerns to me. Which is why I felt the most protected with a waterfront property (or as close as one could get). The tennis bubble area also seems to be too narrow to support another building, but RE construction is not my area of expertise.

I will say, however, that the sales agents are very unhelpful. I've been trying to ask my agent simple questions and have been getting no where. For instance, I know all the apartments come with W/D hookups, but will a W/D unit with the exact specifications to the closet be installed for us, be available for purchase for us to install or be available for us to purchase for the construction company to install? Or maybe we'll be left to haul a W/D up to our own apartment only to find out its 2" too wide. The sales team does a poor job maintaining communication or providing updates.

I was also around the construction site a few times. I did go up to the 10th floor to see my apartment in early June. I was impressed at the degree of completion. (As of this visit, the bathrooms tiles were being laid, although no fixtures were installed yet). Last week, I walked around the building's exterior. To the naked eye, the building still seems to need a lot of work to be in operating condition. There seemed to be little progress with the lobby area since June as well (although I didn't go inside). I'm wary that the new projected completion date (mid October) will not be met. Any other input from buyers would be helpful.
