neighbors: phone/internet/tv

I recommend FiOS as well, it is a great deal for what you get (like $65/month for 20mbs down/5mpbs up + unlimited phone). In addition, it is amazingly fast and reliable, I have had about 2 hours of downtime since April, and that was due to some construction worker cutting the fiber cable somewhere. Once FiOS TV comes (hopefully by early 2008) TWC will not be able to compete.
We originally signed up for TW cable/phone/internet and had a nightmare experience with them. After waiting weeks for our installation appointment the contractor TW sent couldn't figure out our building's wiring system, ended up installing an external phone jack, put tons of holes in our walls and left all other prewired phone/ethernet jacks unfunctional - we ended up having 3 different TW appointments and none were successful. We canceled and switched to Verizon Fios and phone, they were out the next day and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend not using TW for phone/internet, they do not know how to wire phone/internet in our apartments.

verizon fios is the fastest internet one can get. all my fiends are jealous that we have it available in lic.[/quote]
Is Verizon FIOS available everywhere in LIC? I'll be moving into the new Avalon building (Riverview North) next month, and I'm thinking about setting up my internet/phone service. Don't need the tv... Thanks!

What worked for me for phone was to transfer my manhattan 212 number to vonage a week before moving, and then you take the number with you, 24.99 a month unlimited USA and European land lines. It's Voice over IP,connects to your router or modem is a 5x5inch box,all digital, You can take the box everywhere, plug it into a hi speed internet connection and it'll ring your home number. Of course verizon is best for cable and TW for TV,lots of luck. Arris is well hooked up,connections in all the rooms.
