Trying to get a 1BR for 8/1... advice needed
Up to Neighborhood Discussion
Hi all,
Thanks so much to those who replied to my earlier post.
Today, after waiting 90 minutes in the Avalon Riverview North Lobby, we were told that there are no 1BR's available for an August 1st move-in. This was frustrating, especially since we had to fill out a card when we arrived stating what we wanted -- would have been nice to be told upfront they didn't have availability...
We were also told no availability at EastCoast. Anyway, we have one lead -- looking into a rental at CityLights.
But, lovely message board people, here's where I need your help. My boyfriend and I would love to get a 1BR in one of the luxury highrises for 8/1. Preferably one with a pool, but we'll take what we can get. How to go about it? What creative ways have we not thought of?
For example -- what's with the voluminous broker listings on Craig's List? Do they really have apts to offer in these buildings that the rental offices aren't telling us about? And if so, what is THAT about??
Anyway, we love the area and would really love to get what we want here. Any advice/secrets/tricks of the trade would be MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks for wading through this epic post!
Best,
Rich
ps - Was reading old board posts about many tenant complaints in the first Avalon building -- has the situation improved? Is this reason to believe management won't do a good job with the new building?
