Fireworks Change each year
Up to Neighborhood Discussion
As a former AR residents, First year, I can tell you the barges are in the same location. One year they did have 4 barges, but now we are back to 3. Remember, people in Brooklyn are watching too. This is not just an LIC event. Think the best views will soon be from the south side of The Powerehouse.
As a 10 year CL resident I can def tell you they were not in the same location this year.... The northernmost barge (whether 3 or 4 barges) was always completely visible from CL. This year the tug kept pushing it further south as the night progressed until it was no longer visible. I agree that Powerhouse will have a good view.
dd is absolutely correct. When I was a newcomer here, before Citylights was built, the future Citylights site was an ideal viewing spot. There was always a barge right there in front of us.
No, it's not a LIC thing, however many many people come to Gantry State Park specifically to watch the fireworks. There aren't any places in North Brooklyn like it, so it's really frustrating that Macys chooses to move the barges farther south each year. It still was a great show, but it would be nice if they realized where the largest groups of people are watching from. Maybe it had to do with the strong winds? Who knows...

No, Macy just doesn't give a " s***" about you. Face it, we are irrelevant to them.
