LIC vs. Wiliamsburg

I initially started my condo search in LIC being that I currently live in Queens - Whitestone to be exact. But prices appeared similar to Williamsburg (at least in the summer, I know there has been some price softening since then), and I shifted my search there.

Being that both neighborhoods are close to Manhattan (albeit to different parts), can those of you who are more familar with LIC than I tell me some comparatives with Williamsburg? Not to snub any locals, but in my brief walk through LIC, it appears to me that Williamsburg is a lot more developed/gentrified. Can someone perhaps point out what I may have missed?

Thanks!

LIC is convenient for mid-town

Williamsburg is convenient to down-town

I found myself in the same situation recently. I find LIC to be a few years behind Williamsburg as far as it's development goes but it's certainly on it's way. LIC is a similar neighborhood as far as location, look and feel. I am also living in Queens (Astoria) at the present time but feel that a move to LIC is near. From much of the reading and research I have done, LIC seems to be a great investment opportunity for the future. Similar to that of Williamsburg a few years back. I believe both are very good places to live. I had a real estate agent take me around town one weekend and I learned a lot about the different developments popping up around the area.

they feel different to me. Wburgh is more developed as you say, noiser, busier. It doesn't have waterfront access yet.

at this point at least - LIC is quieter, smaller. less developed so it's actually exciting when something opens up. waterfront access is great.

I think LIC has better NYC access (quicker, more reliable, 7 train, midtown tunnel, 59th street bridge), better water front access, less developed, better access to LIE.

I also believe that the LIC business core + LIC waterfront (ie, QueensWest) in the long run will be a better populated and valuable property.

Williamsburg has more restaurants, bars and things like that, but LIC is catching up.

In the end of the day, waterfront, views and transportation win out over most other things so that is why LIC.
