Ventless dryers?

Posted by yrb at February 17. 2008

Does anyone know if there are vents for the dryer hook-ups?

I understand that in many cases there is a hook-up for the washer but no vent - so you are then required to buy a ventless dryer.

Anyone know anything about this? How important is it to have a vent for your regular dryer?

From what the sales folks told me back in november, the dryer model that will be installed in our apartments is ventless.

That's what I was getting at.

I have never used a ventless dryer before. For some reason I am under the impression that they do not dry as well as vented dryers and take much longer. What I can't understand is why all of these new buildings are offering washer/dryer hook-ups but are not installing vents -- I guess that the obvious reason is cost but I can't imagine it being that much...anyhow...

It is a matter of cost and lost space.  Vents start to eat up space in a floor plan because you have to size the shaft to vent not only your dryer but everyone under and above you.

Square Feet = $$$
