interesting legal developments

Talk with the HPC folks today and learned a bit of good news for OHP and HV buyers. Apparently Brown Harris Stevens and the developers have taken some steps to improve the quality of life at both sites. Much has been said about the train noise at OHP. Turns out, it is illegal for them to idle the diesel engines as they do at OHP. Nothing to do with the new buildings going up. There are apparently some kind of law against it. No one ever challenged it b/c no one ever lived there. The developers are proceeding with talks with the MTA on this very point and the law is in the developer's favor. For HV, the biggest problem has always been the intersection at Jackson and 11th. The traffic light there doesn't allow safe passage across. BHS has gotten the city council involved and has the issue before the traffic folks to change the traffic pattern. Not a big deal, just have to have the light be red from both directions at the same time. Hopefully, by time closings start, there may actually be a change at both sites. It will be interesting to see.

That would be great news about the trains.  I thought it was a bit ridiculous that they would just idle all day while the train just sat there.

This is excellent news on both accounnts. we will be at OHP, so the train news is great to hear.  now who do we get invloved to clean up on the railroad's side of the street?? it's flithy over there with garbage and broken glass. heck, there was a broken old tolilet on that side of the street for 2 months, which has thankfully gone now.

is there any documentation which supports this? I will also be at OHP and agree it's great news, but you'd figure that someone would've done something much earlier if that were the case? just curious
