Anyone looking into parking in the area?

I'm looking into purchasing at One Hunter's point, but unfortunatly I'm one of thoese New Yorker's that needs a car... not want... but needs.  I wish I could get rid of my car.  I hate driving.

Unfortuantaly I'm not in a position that would allow me to purchase a parking space for 75k.  Did you know that would be more than a $350 mortgage payment for the next 30 years at 20% down?  That's way more than my car is worth.   

I hear street parking can be kind of rough in the area.  Not so much "will my car be there in the morning?" But more in the line of "I can't find a legal parking space!" 

Anyone know if we can rent in the small lot across the street and how much is that? I know the City Lights lot is expensive. But there's the new lot where Duane Reade is going to be.  Anyone know how much a monthly there is?  It's a bit of a hike... but who can afford the parking tickets in NYC these days.
