Rant: 4720 Washers & Dryers
Up to EastCoast Discussion
Both washers and dryers stop in the middle of their cycles, so I am nearly always greeted by clothes that are dirty or damp when they should be neither. It seems necessary to "babysit" the damn things if one wants to avoid spending a ridiculous amount of time doing this ultra-fun chore.
I don't think I'm the only one with better things to do with my time.
And yes, I have tried the "wash by the pound" service offered by the valet to avoid this headache altogether. Three times to be exact. Each time, they have lost one or more of my belongings. But maybe I should be grateful for those few unexpected items that have made their way to my apartment, like that used pink lady g-string? (yuck!!!)
Does anyone else share my "sail-switch-open-fault-check-lint-open-door-drive me insane" syndrome? Thx.
The wash by the pound service is a little more than double the price if you just do it yourself, with detergent and the likes included. They haven't lost any of my larger items, but I definitely had a decreasing supply of socks. At first I was convinced that maybe I didn't have as many socks as I thought, but learned otherwise when other persons garments started showing up in my own.
As for the normal washer/dryers on the other floors, they're not too bad. Definitely not as good as having your own, but work decently, and are what I use.
Hi, I'm currently living on the 2nd floor and YES I often experience both washer and dryer malfunctions. 1/3 of the time the washing machine or dryer will stop and break down.... which is very ridiculous... those machines are very costly as well.. especially if I had to switch it to another machine due to malfunction....
Although its a pain in the ass, but I heard the washers/dryers on the other floors seems to work normally. Hopefully I'll able to find a 3bed apartment around this with w/d so I wont have to suffer this insane syndrome... =)
The washing machines on our floor at 4720 are occasionally caked with dog hair. It's pretty gross. Our neighbors don't seem to notice the mess they are leaving (even after signs were put up), so we end up cleaning the inside of the machines ourselves before every use.
