Installing an Overhead Light?

Posted by jd at January 07. 2001
I am hoping to install an overhead light in my apartment. Has anyone done this, either DIY or with the help of an electrician? And how did you negotiate putting a cable on the "popcorn" ceiling?

Any advice would be much appreciated...thank you.

is there already a line running to the area where you want your overhead light? is there a junction box in that spot? If not, I would consider having an electrician help you out. It could be that if you do something wrong and an electrical fire starts....you could be in some serious trouble. But.....if the junction box is already in your ceiling....its quite simple...just remember to cut the power via the circuit box first.
Most fixtures come with instruction..assuming there was a fixture or junction box already exisiting.

I RECENTLY HAD A NEW LIGHT FIXTURE PUT IN MY DININGROOM BY ELIO, THE ASSISTANT SUPER AT CL. HE HAD NO PROBLEM WIRING AND CONNECTING THE NEW LIGHT FIXTURE AND REOSTAT CONTROL WHERE THERE WAS NONE. I WAS QUITE PLEASED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU TALK TO HIM ABOUT YOUR PROJECT.

Can anyone recommend a real estate agent specializing in CL?

Can anybody comment about the gym and tennis courts?

There are a few real estate agents... Ron Cohen and Darleen Krimitz are two off the top of my head.

The gym in the building is nice for a free (sort of) gym it has:

- 2 "Skiing machines"
- 2 Stair Climbers
- 2 Bikes
- 4 Treadmills
- 1 Rower
- 10 or so machines
- A free weight area
- Locker rooms w/ showers and saunas
- A "class" room for "classes"

Overall a nice little gym. You can get a key to access it off peak hours, most of the time it is pretty empty and there is at least one class each day.

There are two tennis courts on top of the parking garage. Nice, but a little hard to play in with a lot of wind.

Hope this helps (more to the FAQ I can see).

Thanks for the prompt reply. Can you advise the brokerage company names for the 2 RE agents. Thanks.
