Stop Work Order on Citylights

Posted by rosieb at July 22. 2008

As of this morning, there is a "Stop Work Order" hanging up on the front window of the building next to all the building permits.  There is a reason for the order, but unless you know building dept code, you can't decipher it.

If this continues for the unforeseen future, I would like to be able to open my balcony and get some air into my apartment.  As well as rip off the red notice that was taped to my door AFTER it was already locked.

Does anybody have any idea why we got the stop work order? Just great last thing we need is more delays with this project.

Resident called in NY DOB inspector, which was their right, but shut project down until items written up are resolved.

I hope he or she had a very good reason for doing this because all this does is prolong the pain of having all this facade work being done.  I know a lot of people hate this project (me included) but it has to be done and the less obstacles it has the sooner we could conclude it.

I want to thank that resident. If the Dept of Building thought that the work was dangerous and illegal enough to shut it down I am glad. I believe in safety first. Does a couple of days really matter when the the job has been extended for about 2 years?
