Kitchen work (granite and floors)

Posted by metfan101 at October 22. 2009

Hi,

I just had my counters and floors redone in the kitchen and was VERY satisfied with the guy who did the work.  He was professional, easy to talk to and did excellent work.  I just wanted to pass this along to everyone.  He has done a few apartments in the building already and is familiar with all the 'quirks' of the building.

His name:  William Rosa

Company: D-Lux (a family owned company, been in business for years)

Phone: 203-650-6606

He did my floor originally (about 2 months ago) and did excellent work.  Then I picked a granite countertop that I liked, but the place could not do work in the building because either they didn't want to get the required insurance that they needed for the building or they just didn't have the insurance (I believe the first part because this company has been in business for 25 years on Long Island and probably just didn't want to deal with the additional insurance requirements our building requires).  That led me back to this guy, William Rosa.  He went and picked up the granite I picked in Long Island (he is in Connecticut, but does a lot of work in the city) and cut it and installed it for me.  Very easy guy to talk to and very professional crew.

Next project is the bathroom hopefully next year and there is no doubt in my mind that I will go to this guy to do all the work.

I know how hard it is to find a good contractor, so I just wanted to pass this info along.

How was his pricing?  Can you break down the cost of the floors and the counter?  I'd like to get the kitchen and bathroom floors done, which is why I ask to break it down.

And how long did it all take, from submitting paperwork to the completion of the project?

Thanks.

The pricing was a little higher then some other quotes I received, but as you can see from above, I think I had a different situation as he did extra work for me (picking up the granite at another store and I think I paid retail since it was from a different place).  I would suggest that you just call him to schedule a quote and you can work from there.  My feeling is that he was a little higher, but worth it because of the ease of dealing with him.  Also, the process was pretty quick - He picked up the Granite on Monday and it was installed yesterday.  Same with the floors.  I picked out the floors and it was done within a week.  I don't want to give you prices because I did some different things also (like expand the kitchen area into the living room so it required more granite and cutting then a normal kitchen) and I don't want to influence your decision of calling him because you see that I may have paid more then what you would be expecting to pay.  As I said though, I did get other quotes and he was a little higher, but not much.

did you completely redo the cabinets, or just new fronts?  do you have any photos?  I am interested in doing the cabinets and am thinking about just doing fronts, but if the price is reasonable I might be able to change the entire structure of the kitchen.  If there is any info you could send me (where you got the cabinets or fronts, how much appx, how much the ripping out of the old cabinets and installation of the new ones cost (if you did the whole cabinets)) I would really appreciate it.  You could send the photos to raskinscott@aol.com

Thank you so much in advance

Hi, I did not do redo the cabinets, however, I did paint them.  Let me see if I can take some good pictures and send them to you..
