Chris,

That is a great attitude, if the school kids need a safe place to play but nothing was negotiated beforehand than screw them.  I think we should work with the school to provide a safe place where many of our shareholder's kids attend school.  The problem is that no matter what you put there someone is not going to like it.

As someone who wants his kid to maybe go to that school, I certainly want there to be an outside, safe area for them to play.

I would encourage the Board to first determine that the proposed structure does not negatively impact on the financial value of any Citylight's property, nor on Citylight's shareholder's or resident's quality of life.  Only then are any of the other aspects of the project relevant.

No Archie I'm not saying screw the kids, and your attitude is the one that sucks because I'm sure your concern about this issue is because you have kids in the school.  The "solution" being offered will be there long after your kids are off to college and you sell your apartment, but the people who bought their apartments in our building did so on certain expectations, and if this design infringes on the enjoyment of their unit one iota it should be rejected.  In case anyone thinks this is like the Avalon issue, this is entirely different than Avalon building a taller building...we had no control / no say over that project.  But the board has the moral and legal opportunity to do what's best in the interests of the shareholders of the coop, not the Board of Ed.   The school is a tenant, no more, no less.

The Board of Ed has been in business for how long, 100+ years.  They forgot to think about where the kids will play in bad weather?  Where was the outrage on this issue 10 years ago when the school opened?  This is a issue of principal, if the Board wants to "accomodate" the school at the potential infringement of some shareholders, that sets a terrible precedent going forward.  How will you feel next time if your rights, or your views are impacted???  That's why I say check the lease...The relationship with the Board of Ed is governed by the lease...that's why they have those 100 page documents.
