Sofia Landon Geier -- a Drama Desk nominee & Writers' Guild Award winner, veteran of Law & Order, Tales from the Darkside, Broadway, Off-Broadway & regional theater, too -- is starting a non-profit Off-Off-Way-Off Broadway theater in Western Queens. The theater will present works from all over the globe -- reflecting the diversity of our great borough -- with a concentration on a specific period in history each season. And it will be fun! We'll also present a community theater production every year, to highlight our many talented neighbors. Location is Sunnyside's increasingly trendy Skillman Avenue at 48th Street, cozying up to everybody's fave vintage shop STRAY and our hip cafes, wine bars, pubs and restaurants. Skillman Avenue is Happening and Unity Stage (that's the name) will ride the wave.

Getting the ball rolling this summer with half-day workshops in Improv, Singing, Jazz Dance and Comedy Scene Writing. Low, low fees, some partial scholarships available.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY -- For any older Teens and/or college-age folks out there who wish Summer Stock theater was still alive and well -- Sofia is offering a PRE-PROFESSIONAL SUMMER STOCK experience, just like the ones she had while she was a student at Northwestern U. Actors will rehearse 10 am to 6 pm for 8 days -- Friday July 24 through Friday July 31 (Sunday off) and put on 2 public performances on Saturday August 1st. They'll work with professional director, choreographer and musical director. Again, for a fee so low it would make a Manhattan parent faint. Manhattan kids welcome, by the way. The summer programs are open to all and easily accessible via 7 TRAIN to 46th Street/Bliss OR Q60 bus to 48th Street & Queens Blvd.
