No Weekend 7 Train - Feb 12th - Mar 23rd
The MTA is going to make it a longer winter this year as they shut down the 7 train from Times Square to Queensboro Plaza on the weekends from February 12th through March 23rd.
The work is part of New York City Transits $15 billion capital program to keep the subways in a state of good repair. This work includes station rehabs, track replacement, and system modernization. The people understand that the trains have to be shut down sometimes for repairs and maintenance, said Councilman John Liu, who represents Flushing and chairs the City Council transportation committee. But the inconvenience would be easier to bear if there was real assurance that the MTA is working as quickly as possible and not treating evening and weekend hours as cart blanche closure times.
